Wood Retaining Wall Staining on the Lake in Harrison

A wood retaining wall near the water has a tough life. Sun beating down all summer, moisture creeping in from the lake, freeze-thaw cycles doing their thing in the fall and winter - it adds up fast. Without proper protection, wood breaks down quicker than most people expect.

That's exactly the kind of situation we were dealing with here in Harrison. This retaining wall sits right along the waterfront, which means it's constantly exposed to the worst conditions wood can face. The goal was simple: get a solid stain applied that would lock out moisture, slow down UV damage, and keep the natural wood look intact.

We took our time working through each section of the wall - getting into the tight spots, around the structural braces, all of it. A job like this isn't just about slapping color on wood. The stain has to penetrate evenly so it actually bonds and protects, not just sits on the surface.

The deep green tone works perfectly in a setting like this - surrounded by tall pines and sitting right next to the water, it looks like it belongs there. And more importantly, that wall is now in a much better position to hold up against whatever the seasons throw at it.

We enjoy doing this kind of work around Harrison and the lake communities. There's something satisfying about leaving a structure better protected than you found it, especially when it sits in an environment this hard on building materials.
