Getting the details right on an exterior is harder than it looks. When you have a bold red entry door paired with weathered wood siding, adding a screen door that ties it all together takes a careful eye - and the right stain.

Here's what we were working with: a wood screen door that needed to complement a deep red entry door without competing with it, while still feeling at home against that rustic vertical siding. The wrong color choice would have made the whole entry feel disjointed. The right one would pull everything together.

We stained the screen door to sit right in line with the red tones of the entry door - warm enough to match, but with enough depth to hold its own next to the natural wood grain of the siding. What you end up with is an entry that reads as one cohesive unit, not a mix of pieces that don't belong together.

That's really the goal with any exterior detail work. It's not just about slapping color on wood. It's about reading what's already there and making a choice that feels intentional. The character of the original materials stays intact - we're just helping everything speak the same language.

Small updates like this tend to get overlooked, but they carry a lot of visual weight. The entry is the first thing anyone sees, and when it's dialed in, the whole exterior feels more put-together.
